A limited number of scholarships are available for the 2016-2017 school year from funds donated by members of the Purdue Class of 1937 in support of current students.  Criteria for determining recipients of this scholarship include leadership, character, scholarship, and financial need.

 To be Eligible for a Purdue Class of 1937 Scholarship, an applicant must:

  1. Be enrolled at the Purdue University West Lafayette campus;
  2. Be registered for 12 or more credit hours;
  3. Classified as a sophomore, junior, or senior during the 2016-2017 academic school year;
  4. Have a cumulative grade index of 2.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
  5. Be in good academic and social standing with the University;
  6. Show evidence of leadership ability and leadership potential;
  7. Be a domestic student as defined by the University;
  8. Describe financial need for the scholarship*

*(This does not mean an applicant must qualify for financial assistance through Purdue’s Division of Financial Aid to be considered for the award)

The number of scholarships awarded and their amounts for 2016-2017 will be determined by the interest earned on the Class of 1937 endowment during the past year.  An average of 15 scholarships has been awarded each year since 1987-88, with individual scholarship amounts ranging from $500 to $4000.  Each scholarship amount for 2016-2017 will be equally divided between fall and spring semesters.  Previous applicants and recipients may apply again for this scholarship, provided they will be enrolled as full-time, undergraduate student at the West Lafayette campus during the 2016-2017 academic school year.  Review of applications and selection of recipients will be performed by a committee comprised of representatives from the Office of the Dean of Students, the Division of Financial Aid, and the University Development Office.
